Hi!
My name is Alicia Baker and I love working with all of my students at Horizons. No two days are ever the same. Nothing compares to the look on a child’s face when they realize they can do something today that they could not do yesterday. These moments make it all worthwhile! I conduct many evaluations and like to work with parents to help them see their child’s abilities as opposed to their disabilities.
I started working at Horizons in 2008 with the Summer CAMPS program. Currently, I work in the Individual Instruction program as the Lead Teacher and also organize family events and CAMPS. I am a certified special education teacher and previously worked for a therapeutic horseback riding center in Augusta, MI. I am originally from Troy, MI and moved to Grand Rapids after I graduated from Western Michigan University. My husband Bob and I live in Byron Center with our 3 cats (and hope to add a dog or two soon). I am an active member of the Junior League of Grand Rapids and enjoy spending time with my family, especially my niece and 3 nephews.
