Summer Camp for Children with Special Needs

Description:

Your child is going to LOVE the exciting adventures we have planned for this summer! We will explore a variety of engaging themes together, complete with lots of opportunities for movement, music, problem solving, collaboration, and indoor and outdoor fun.

Our camps are designed to offer a fun, safe, and therapeutic environment for children with neurodevelopmental disorders to engage with others, try new things, and build skills over the summer months. A low staff to child ratio ensures that everyone receives appropriate support.

Principles of the CORE Approach are integrated throughout all activities.  Participants will have the opportunity to improve communication, enhance regulation, build relationships, strengthen processing abilities, and experience success!

Summer 2012 Therapy Camp Schedule and Registration Information:

This summer we are unveiling a new scheduling process to provide more flexibility for families.  Please read the following scheduling information carefully:

  • Therapy camp activities will be available the weeks of June 18-August 24 (Monday through Friday) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Children ages 2 years – 18 years are invited to participate (call to discuss your child’s specific needs if s/he is outside of this age range)
  • You may sign up for as many 1-hour time blocks as you would like during those weeks.  For example, if you would like your child to attend camp on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-12  you can sign up for those time slots.  If you would like to do every Thursday from 2-3 you can sign up for that slot.  The choice is up to you – as long as the days/times you request are still available.
  • You may choose the weeks to attend.  Your child does not have to attend all 10 weeks, although they may do so if you wish.
  • There will be a variety of themed activities available throughout the summer, and age-appropriate activities will be provided for all campers.
  • There will be one staff member for every 2 participants.  We keep our numbers low to provide the best experience for everyone involved.
  • Please note that we have a limited number of spaces per time slot each day. Registrations for each time slot will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.  You need to sign up soon to guarantee that you can have the days and times that work best for you.  If we are unable to accommodate your first choice we will work with you to try to find a suitable alternative.

*Parents with children in the Therapy Camp program are invited to attend 2 parent-only sessions to facilitate carryover of techniques into the home environment.  Details will be provided upon enrollment.  These sessions are included in the cost of the camp program.

Cost:  The 2012 rate for Therapy Camp is $25 per hour.  Payment for the entire summer is due at the time of registration unless other arrangements are made with our office.

Summer 2012 Collaborate and Create Camp Schedule and Registration Information:

Ages: 11-18 (call to discuss your child’s specific needs if s/he is outside of this age range)

Description: Get ready to work and have lots of fun! This group tackles some major projects over the summer months. Past projects have included putting up fences, landscaping, building an adventure course, assembling Adirondack chairs, and a variety of other take-home creations. These projects provide opportunities for thinking, problem solving, communication, physical activity, working together, and building relationships. Principles of the CORE Approach are integrated through all activities. For those of you who have participated in the past and are wondering – YES, Bill will be back this summer! He’s got an exciting list of projects planned and is looking forward to seeing you all.

Schedule:  Collaborate and Create Camp will meet on July 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM each day

Cost: $450 per session (includes the cost of all project materials)

Summer 2012 Individual Instruction Schedule and Registration Information:

If you would like your child to have an intensive 1-1 therapy experience this summer to work on specific therapeutic goals, please contact us to discuss our Individual Instruction program for the summer months.  This program is extremely limited and is offered at a cost of $40 per hour.
